First-Year Orientation

The first-year orientation program is designed for newly admitted students who will be enrolled for Fall 2025. The program encompasses various aspects, including an in-person orientation session.

What is the Orientation 2025 Experience?

The Orientation 2025 experience includes:

• New Student Checklist: A convenient list of important tasks to guide students through their summer, located on the university's portal.
• BUZZ Emails: Weekly emails loaded with resources and opportunities to take advantage of at the university.
• Orientation Session: An in-person, overnight session where students will learn about campus, meet other new students, and receive information about academic advising and course registration.
• Virtual Academic Advising Appointment: At the orientation session, students will meet with their academic advising office to discuss important dates and need-to-knows related to course registration.
• New Student Move-In and Welcome Program: New students will move into the residence halls early and participate in welcome programming.

All newly admitted students who have paid their admission deposit will have access to the New Student Checklist beginning in early May. Students will receive an email when the registration system is available. The first item to complete is to register for an orientation session. These dates are offered throughout the months of June and July and are specific to the school to which the student was admitted.

Summer 2025 Dates

All first-year orientation sessions take place in-person over the course of two days, and students will be housed in one of the university's residence halls for the night of orientation. Sessions will correspond to a student's academic college. Orientation Session Information

About Orientation

The orientation program has many sessions over two days designed specifically to answer any questions students may have as the university's newest community members. The program begins with check-in at 8:30 AM on the first day and concludes late morning on the second day around 12 PM. All students will receive a detailed orientation schedule upon checking in. Some topics students can expect to learn about include:

• Resources such as The Q Center and The Multicultural Resource Center

• Academic Advising

Academic Advising and Course Registration

Before You Arrive at Orientation

As an incoming student, you will be pre-registered for your fall 2025 classes pending the completion of online documents related to course registration. These digital documents are designed to aid in your academic success and to assist in developing your first-semester college schedule. Visit your Orientation Checklist after you register for an orientation session to review this information and complete the necessary steps prior to your orientation session, which may include a course preference form.

During and After Orientation

During orientation, you will meet with your Academic Advising office to discuss important dates and essential information related to course registration. Once you attend your orientation session, you will make an academic advising appointment to review your schedule and make any changes.

EOP First-Year Students

First-year students admitted to the EOP program will not attend orientation through New Student Programs. They will attend events and the Binghamton Enrichment Summer Program (BEP) through the EOP office. Students must attend one free orientation specifically for new EOP first-year students, which will be held at the university. Transportation to the EOP orientation at the university is provided by EOP to students living in the NYC area. There is no charge to register for the EOP orientation and Parent/Guardian Meeting. Students must be present for the entire event.
